Ad Blocking: Tutorial
Ads. They're annoying. They're everywhere. Many are dangerous. Let's get rid of them!
Browser
Browser Extensions:
- AdBlock - after install, click icon in browser and then click gear icon for settings:
- on the General tab, uncheck Allow some non-intrusive advertising
- on the Filter lists tab, check any additional lists you'd like (I like Adblock Warning Removal, EasyPrivacy, Panboy's Annoyances, and Malware protection)
- Ghostery - after install click icon, then three vertical dots icon, then Settings, then in the right-hand column:
- Global Blocking: click "Block All"
- General Settings: check "Block new trackers added to Ghostery by default" (also optionally uncheck "Allow trackers created by site owners")
- Notifications: optionally uncheck any undesired
- Opt In / Out: uncheck all boxes
- Purple Box: uncheck "Show the purple box in the corner of my browser"
- ClearSight - right-click icon and choose Hide in Brave menu
- Stop AutoPlay Next for YouTube - right-click icon and choose Hide in Brave menu
- Remove Recommendations Youtube VK Facebook - click icon and move all sliders to the left (off) then right-click icon and choose Hide in Brave menu
Advanced Users
- Images ON/OFF browser extension

- Linux:
- sudo apt install busybox && curl -sf -L https://github.com/EnergizedProtection/Energized_Linux/raw/master/energized.sh -o ~/energized.sh && sudo bash ~/energized.sh
- Windows:
- download and extract HostsMan to install it
- follow these instructions
- Rooted Android with Magisk:
- Install Termux
- Open Magisk:
- Menu > Settings > scroll down and tap "Systemless hosts"
- Menu > Downloads: search and install "Busybox for Android NDK" and "Energized Protection"
- Reboot phone
- Open Termux and type:
- su
- energized
- p [alternatively you can choose another pack option]
- Reboot phone
- Other
