Annoying Elementary OS 8 network bug

Elementary 7 has been amazing for me but I was a little disappointed to discover they don't have an OS upgrade path (you have to reinstall the entire new OS from a bootable USB). Although that process was fairly straightforward, the first thing it prompted me to do was to install some critical updates and reboot. Upon doing so, my Ethernet no longer worked and I couldn't access the Internet. After half a day of searching, I finally found a solution on Reddit:

Before installing the critical updates and rebooting, the very first thing you should do after installing the OS to your hard drive and loading it for the first time is to add these two lines to the bottom of your /etc/NetworkManager/NetworkManager.conf file:
