ISC DHCP - R.I.P.

source: xkcd

One of networking's most fundamental protocols is DHCP. It allows most homes to connect to the Internet. And the tool that most computers use to apply this magic is dhclient from the Internet Systems Consortium's isc-dhcp-client package. Earlier this year ISC quietly announced it would end development and no longer maintain it. Considering how fundamental this package is, I was surprised it didn't make bigger headlines. Either way, here's how to replace it with systemd-networkd.
